There is a massive difference between educating an audience on history and forcing a narrative down their throats. 📉 At Cheran Academy, we look at the mechanics behind media, business, and culture. Today, we need to talk about the controversy surrounding the movie Dorothy. Here is my unfiltered take on where this movie went right, and where it went completely wrong: 1️⃣ The Historical Reality: The historical persecution of transgender individuals is a documented, tragic reality. Acknowledging that history is important for any society that wants to grow. 2️⃣ The Cinematic Hijack: But there is a line where historical storytelling gets hijacked by modern agendas. When a film prioritizes checking ideological boxes over natural storytelling, the audience feels it immediately. 3️⃣ The Ending Problem: The final kissing scene between the two men is the perfect example. It felt highly unnecessary to the core plot. It didn’t serve the emotional weight of the story; it served a specific agenda. 4️⃣ The Verdict: We need movies that tell the raw, unfiltered truth about history. We don’t need movies that use historical tragedy as a Trojan horse for forced modern messaging. When you force a message, you lose the audience. 👇 Have you watched Dorothy yet? Do you think the ending was justified by the story, or was it a forced agenda?
