Just in time for your Saturday night disco party, T Connections's last disco hit from 1979. T-Connection, a disco band from Nassau, Bahamas is probably best known for the disco classic, "At Midnight" from 1979 (#46 pop). The Brothers Coakley, Theo and Kirk joined up with Dave Mackey and Tony Flowers and put together some really great disco music starting with 1976's "Disco Magic". Their second release, "Do What You Want To Do" topped the disco survey for one week in March of 1977. They released several other top 10 disco songs, and then #14 disco for "At Midnight" in 1979 that was their final entry on the disco charts. "Saturday Night" from the same album, is a favorite of mine, with a terrific rolling bassline that never quits, Chic-like chicken scratching guitars, strings that lend a burst of vertigo now and then, and those funky horn charts that bring you right back to earth. The original version of this one was less than six minutes, but it sounds pretty good at nine, don't you think? This one was not played as much, I think it got caught up in the disco backlash and forgotten at the time. Hearing it in the club made me feel instantly sexy and ready to dance. I think it's catchy as hell, and those "Ooh Ooh" chants near the end are making the hair on my neck stand up, (I'm on the headphones as I write this). They were signed to TK Records via the Dash label and moved to Capitol after their final Dash release in 1980, when the label folded. After the move, T-Connection recorded and released new material up until 1984's "Take It To The Limit".
