China has started hoarding food grains... because they know the next problem to hit the world is a food crisis... ~60% of the world’s corn stocks... More than half of the world’s rice... and ~44% of its wheat is currently controlled by China... 1/ Rice Xi Jinping made one rule... that China should grow all the rice that it would need... so they have set a legal minimum amount of farmland, about 120 million hectares which has to be dedicated to agri growing and cannot be converted to factories... 2/ Pork Pork is China’s protein... and the Chinese eat about half of all the pork produced on the planet... In 2019, the swine flu wiped out roughly a third of China’s pigs, and pork prices nearly doubled... So China does something no other country does... It keeps a strategic pork reserve, of live pigs and frozen meat, the way other countries store oil. 3/ Soybean What do 400 million pigs eat?... Soybean. China imported a record 112 million tonnes of soybean last year... almost 60% of what the world trades in a year... For years, America was the largest supplier ... and as soon as the trade war started, China stopped buying US soybeans for five months and shifted to Brazil. Today, Brazil supplies almost 75% of China’s soybean imports... and America is down to just 15% Now with fertilisers, as the world scrambles to get Urea... China has cut its phosphate fertiliser exports to almost zero to protect its food. Now look at India... while we have the rice, wheat and vegetables... we still import 60% of our cooking oil and our Urea plants run on imported gas.
