Nano the Wizard soliloquy - Dr Ghon joins him at the end. Our first episode of the Skeleton band in their natural habitat. More to come! For more on this band, check this out: Songwriter X and the Skeleton Band (Los Angeles, CA) Xavier Calvera is the best songwriter youâve never heard. He is Songwriter X. Born in Cuba and raised on good old American rock ânâ roll X writes songs in many genres from pop, folk, and theater tunes to hard rock, jazz, and salsa. Since 2000 when Xavi (say HA-vee) Calvera established Lord Tiger Recording Studio in Uptown Whittier, his backing band has undergone many incarnations occasionally featuring well-known studio musicians. The Skeleton Band was a happy accident. In October 2012, Xavi wrote the song âOnly 4 Loveâ and, with Halloween approaching, had a unique vision of the video â music played by skeletons. His wife, former LA radio personality Susan McRoberts, joined in the fun, writing skits, making costumes and playing white-haired, white-dressed Blanca. The lead characterâs name, Papa Calavera, was a natural, since calavera means skull in Spanish. Papa is a loveable oaf, absent-minded, but kind-hearted. Bonehead, the goofy, unpredictable drummer, named himself and - believe it or not - he is not playing a role! He is like that every day. Al Rocker wearing glasses looks so much like NBC weatherman Al Roker that he bastardized the Today Show starâs name. Bass player Fredo is portrayed by an actual studio musician: Dennis Trerotola who appears sans mask in the infectious âDance on Water.â LA-area musician John Gulack plays keyboards for the Skeleton Band. âIâm in a Well,â catches the viewer immediately, when Blanca playfully pushes Papa who falls backward into a deep, black hole. One must watch the entire video to see what happens. Songwriter X was busy in 2015, composing, recording and shooting a different video every two weeks, posting them on his YouTube site. âMary Jo,â âRedâ and âDead or Aliveâ are autumn originals with earworm catch phrases and pounding, danceable beats. Xavier Calvera has released seven CDs packed with original music. 1998âs âDragon Masterâ is a bright collection of pop and folk tunes. âFor All Times,â recorded in 2001 with Roy Tooth, was the fulfillment of a dream each singer had had since childhood. There is a special magic in the harmony of their voices. âThe Lord Tiger Sessionsâ from 2003 is an eclectic mix of hard rock and soft ballads. At the time, the band was known as âXavi and the Tiger.â Susan dressed as a tiger, complete with tail! This group performed before audiences from Pasadena to Santa Monica. In 2004, Xavier Calvera unleashed his jazzy alter ego and created a 13-song album titled âElrod Geare, One Dark Dude.â Story songs like âPainting My Afternoonsâ or âClouds and Skiesâ alternate with fast-paced, driving pieces like âAimless Loveâ and hauntingly soft tunes such as âIâm Surroundedâ and âMore Than Forever.â A mini-CD of original Christmas tunes became available in 2005. âTropical Christmasâ has hit potential. âPaâ Mi Cuba Me Voyâ (To my Cuba, I go) is Xaviâs musical expression of how it felt to leave his home, taking nothing, to move to a foreign country with an unknown language and culture. He was in high school when he landed in the U.S and did not speak a word of English, but still managed to pass algebra class that year! These eleven songs, all with captivating Cuban rhythms celebrate the outdoor musicians, the street vendors, birds, trees and tropical oceans of the island. In Germany, increasing plays of the title song prove a growing popularity. A disc called âLovesongs: One for each month of the yearâ followed in 2010. Calvera has written songs for various vocalists including Frances Tease and LN Powers. The WannaBeatles adopted his âI Wanna Be a Beatleâ as their concert theme song. The Magallen/Gulack duo, who perform throughout the Los Angeles area, are making a splash with Songwriter Xâs original tune âRoll the Bones.â -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Sweet Baby Jesus - For Paris 2015" ⨠https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cx7OZLKOQi8 -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-
