Hey Everyone, Today, let's discuss how the world 's largest city may be doomed to fail. Jakarta, Indonesia is disappearing beneath our feet at an alarming rate, home to over 40 million people in its metro region, its sinking faster than any major city on the planet—some areas dropping as much as 25 centimeters annually. The culprit? Massive groundwater extraction over decades has caused the soil to compact and collapse, while the weight of towering skyscrapers and the relentless rise of sea levels only accelerate the crisis. Roads crack and buckle, buildings tilt at precarious angles, and devastating floods have become routine as 40% of the city now sits below sea level. Indonesia is so concerned that they've announced plans to relocate the entire capital to Borneo, but for the millions left behind in Jakarta, the fight to survive continues. This is the story of what happens when a city's thirst for growth collides with the laws of nature.
