E hoje posso dizer que nunca mais voltei atrás (e acho que o meu Pinterest apoia esta afirmação...) - o Jeff Buckley continua a ser, para mim, um dos músicos mais talentosos do seu tempo, e o autor de imensa música que eu adoro fervorosamente, e que já cantei a plenos pulmões vezes suficientes para as pessoas à minha volta nesses momentos se terem fartado de a ouvir. Uma coisa pela qual eu sempre tive um carinho especial em Jeff Buckley foram as suas covers. Mama, You've Been on My Mind (sou completamente obcecada com essa cover), I Know It's Over, The Other Woman (prova provada da célebre afirmação "Jeff Buckley é a versão masculina da Lana"), Hallelujah, que até hoje me deixa completamente sem palavras para descrever a sua absoluta magnificência, a não ser chamar-lhe uma das melhores covers do mundo, e, claro, Lilac Wine - uma rendição absolutamente tocante e profunda, o ambiente desta canção é incrivelmente comovente e sincero. I simply opened Spotify after a long day, barely knowing this Buckley guy, having only heard Mojo Pin before because it showed up in shuffle play mode, and I heard the entire album. Beginning to end. Today I can state that I never went backwards on that decision (and I think my Pinterest can back that up...) - Jeff Buckley is still, for me, one of the most talented musicians of his time, and the author of and immense ammount of music that I adore fervorously, and have sang loud and clear enough times for the people around me in those moments get sick of hearing that for life. However, there is one very specific part of Jeff's repertoire I've always had a soft spot for - his covers. Mama, You've Been on My Mind (completely obcessed with it btw), I Know It's Over, The Other Woman (proven proof of the well-known statement "Jeff Buckley is the guy version of Lana"), Hallelujah, for which I have no words to describe its absolute magnificence other than calling it one of the best covers in the world, ever, and of course Lilac Wine - an absolutely touching and profound rendition of this Nina Simone song, the ambience in this music is incredibly moving and sincere.
