The Marshall Tucker Band closed their 1977 Capitol Theatre show with "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" — here it is "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" closes out this 1977 concert film from The Marshall Tucker Band, recorded live on February 18, 1977, at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey. It's the final song of the 14-track set that became the archival live album Carolina Dreams Tour '77, capturing the band at full flight. The performance features the band's complete original six-man lineup — Doug Gray, Toy Caldwell, Tommy Caldwell, George McCorkle, Jerry Eubanks, and Paul Riddle — playing at the commercial peak of their career. That same year, the studio album Carolina Dreams sent "Heard It in a Love Song" to No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, part of the momentum carrying the band through this tour. As a closing statement, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" gives the whole band room to stretch out, with Jerry Eubanks' horn and Toy Caldwell's guitar trading the spotlight over an extended arrangement. It's a fitting end to a night that also included "Fire on the Mountain," "Ramblin'," and "Can't You See" earlier in the set. Watch the closing number from this landmark Southern rock concert and hear where the full 14-song night finally lands, note by note, as the whole band takes its final bow together.
