its NOT as recommended, but the other way makes more sense technically. not putting the gasket onto the big half, i call it "oilsucking lottery" 😄😉 let me show and explain why. but bolts. for entering are VERY tempting, i know. But stil: the weak spot is on the other half, sorry mates. 0:00 intro 0:06 edge rounding 1:14 needed tools 1:37 big half SM 2:22 the weak spot 4:21 gasket on SMALL half 6:32 kickstarter gear 7:30 closing the halfs 8:34 rotary tolerance test 9:12 tightening up 12:24 a proper DEAD clutch bearing vespa px ENGINE CLOSING, the needed steps: 1) rounding sealing edges with a rasp 2) adding sealing mass 3) fixing gasket onto the SMALL half (NOT! the big half) 4) kickstarter spring and gear ;) 5) putting the engine halfs together 6) centering bolt assembly 7) rotary valve tolerance check 8) closing screw nuts, bolts: 14nm, screws: up2 25nm, adding screw lock esp. around the crank case is a good thing too, they do get loose tools: - piaggio thick green gasket - dirko grey (red is hell of sticky) - NEW M7 stuff - screw lock - feeler gauge FORGET the thick gaskets with dry sealing mass that are offered from shops to solve all tightness problems. completelly useless, someone did not think enough / understood the oilsucking problem. DRY mass can NOT fix the gasket on the small half, so it still can slip, and you only hit 1mm of the small 2mm spot = it will suck oil. &if you add sealing mass, there will be too much and the gasket will much probably move in general a tube sealing mass is cheaper than this gasket ;) the dry mass trick works on good quality engine cases with good sealing surfaces and no weak small spot (its about this problem why you need the wet mass) but not on vespa engines. wet sealing mass is needed, as a glue, to fix the gasket on the small half that it cant slide anymore. the NONONONONO (brexit? lol) stater regarding x) weak spot and x) oil sucking issues of vespa engines: sure, alright. Everybody is allowed to have his own opinion. respect first. (then better do NOT watch this video, as you wont forget it anymore and one day... u will remember it. 50-63% (1,5-2,0mm of 4mm normally) LESS sealing surface is a lot, with definitve potential to cause troubles...) #Vespa #Service #oilsucking -------------------------------------------------------------------------- like what u see? u can support FMP via patreon: https://www.patreon.com/freakmoped _____________________________________________ DISCLAIMER: the information shown in this video, is about THIS specific hardware. it is my personal observation documented with this video.
