We flew Royal Jordanian Business Class from Rome to Bangkok via Amman, starting with RJ102 from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) to Queen Alia International Airport (AMM), followed by a roughly four-hour connection before boarding RJ182 from Amman to Bangkok (BKK). The two flights offer very different business-class experiences: RJ102 uses a regional recliner-style product, while the longer flight to Bangkok provides the full lie-flat business class experience. Along the way, we review the complete Royal Jordanian passenger experience — check-in and boarding, airport lounges, cabin comfort, lie-flat seat, food and beverages, cabin service, inflight entertainment and value for money. The shared lounge in Rome was crowded, while the Royal Jordanian lounge in Amman offered a calmer connection experience. On the long-haul flight, the crew impressed us and the lie-flat seat made sleeping considerably easier, although the food selection was limited and the entertainment library felt dated compared with larger Middle Eastern competitors. We also explore the history of Royal Jordanian Airlines, from its founding as Alia in 1963 to becoming the first Arab airline to join the Oneworld alliance and eventually introducing Boeing 787 Dreamliners for long-haul service. Today, Royal Jordanian offers an interesting alternative for travelers connecting between Europe, the Middle East and Asia through Amman. So, is Royal Jordanian Business Class worth it? Our final score is 4.10/5: Check-in & Boarding 4.25, Cabin Comfort 4.00, Food & Beverages 3.75, Service & Entertainment 4.00, and an impressive 4.50 for Value for Money.
