Thruxton Circuit Classic & Steam Show Visit After deciding not to go to the Hayling Island 20th Anniversary Car Show because of the terrible weather forecast, I headed over to a much smaller local event at Thruxton Circuit instead. At only £5 entry, it felt worth supporting a local gathering — even if I wasn’t sure what I’d find. The show turned out to be a really enjoyable mix of classic vehicles, steam engines, tractors, motorcycles, and vintage commercial vehicles. One of the first things spotted in the camping area was a rare Chevrolet 3100 panel van with a matching period caravan, both finished in fantastic colours with beautiful chrome. A major highlight of the day was the collection of steam engines and traction engines. Seeing and hearing them running — along with the distinctive smell of the smoke and steam — brought back memories of old steam fairs from years ago. The mechanical sounds and movement made them fascinating to watch. There were also plenty of classic tractors on display including Marshalls, Fergusons, David Browns, John Deere models, Fordsons, and Field Marshalls, plus a selection of stationary engines and vintage agricultural equipment. The classic car section featured a wide range of British favourites including: Rover SD1 Vitesse Triumph Stag Jaguar E-Type Mk2 Ford Escort Ford Granada models Vauxhall Magnum/Firenza Vauxhall Nova performance model Hillman Super Minx Lotus Europa Morris Minor Traveller Bedford commercial vehicles Various classic motorcycles and vintage bicycles Despite the wind noise issues (forgot the microphone!), the event turned out to be a great couple of hours with plenty of interesting machinery and nostalgic vehicles to look around. Overall, a small but genuinely enjoyable local show with lots of character.
