Building anything on a remote island usually comes with a few extra problems. This week, the plan seemed simple enough — move a giant boulder out of the way so we can finally start building our new shed foundation. Easy… in theory. The first step meant getting the old boat, the Cape Millie, up and running after sitting for two months. With starter issues, hot wiring attempts, and a little help from our neighbour Johnny, we eventually get her going and begin making a plan to pull the rock out using the boat. Back at home, we rig up old fire hose to use as a tow strap and start preparing for what should be a pretty interesting operation. But, like most things out here, plans don’t exactly go the way we hoped. The weather turns and the wind picks up, we’re forced to rethink the whole thing and go a little more old-school — rope, block and tackle, and whatever else we can figure out to make this thing move. In between all of that, we head inside for some moose burgers, Kelly starts hanging artwork some of you talented Skote's sent us, and we finish things off with a quiet cup of tea and a catch-up chat.
