Our next release in the Super Robot Chogokin Sentai line is Magi King, from Mahou Sentai Magiranger! As a huge fan of both Super Robot Chogokin and Magiranger, the release of this guy was a real treat. Given the recent news that Mystic Force was going to receive a Japanese Dub, it makes the release even more interesting. Unfortunately, unlike Dekaranger Robo, Magi King does not come with a Magi Dragon piece for Gokaioh, as shown previously. However, the toy is really spectacular. It's certainly more stylized then the others, particularly in the Garuda wings, and the overall streamline looked of the toy. It's just as poseable as any of the other releases, which is a nice treat given the fact his shoulder pads are fairly large. The toy, like other SRC releases, features the pull out elbows for added articulation, as well as the pull out chest to increase movability in the abdomen area. The Mermaid legs are die cast, giving the figure a lot of heft and durability. The Garuda wings are large, and can separate into three sections, each with pose ability, to get a lot of dynamic poses like the CGI wings in the show can achieve. Unfortunately, the figure does NOT include small folded up wings that can lay flat against the Garuda piece, so you either take off the Garuda entirely, or you're stuck with the large dynamic wings. While that is a bummer, the articulation in the wings is a huge plus, and is something we haven't seen in a Magi King toy yet. Magi King's hat can even slide over his eyes like in the show. Paint and sculpt wise, it's definitely a winner in my book as well. Magi King includes the King Calibur, two splayed open hands, two weapon holding hands, and a tilted right weapon holding hand to help emulate the finishing attacks. Also included is a small stand for and a peg for the included magical seal to use as a backdrop for emulating finishing attacks. The seal itself is on clear plastic, and looks pretty nice and detailed. Unfortunately, a Tamashii Stage isn't included, but it does include a custom post to slide the seal on for user with an Act 5 Stage. Overall, if you're a fan of Magi King, absolutely pick this up. It blows the Retrofire Mystic Titan Megazord out of the water, and is certainly a must have for Magi fans. --- Awesome Intro thanks to Ryokuya!
