MUSLIM FREEDOM FIGHTERS OF INDIA 🇮🇳 | The Untold Contribution of Indian Muslims to India’s Freedom Struggle What did Indian Muslims actually contribute to the Indian freedom struggle? Books Featured : https://www.qalamaurkagazbooks.com/products/muslim-freedom-fighters-of-india-part-1-and-part-2 This video explores the stories of Indian Muslims who resisted British rule, the British East India Company and the British Raj, and whose lives became part of India’s long journey towards independence. From early resistance against colonial expansion to the Revolt of 1857, revolutionary movements, the Khilafat Movement, Indian National Congress, anti-colonial journalism and the modern Indian independence movement, the history of Indian Muslims and India’s freedom struggle is far broader than the few names most of us grow up hearing. This video takes inspiration from Muslim Freedom Fighters of India — Part 1 & Part 2 by Salim Khan, published by Qalam Aur Kaagaz Books. Together, the two volumes contain 638 pages and are presented by the publisher as the result of extensive research into Muslim participation in India’s freedom struggle. SOME OF THE PERSONALITIES COVERED IN THE BOOKS Siraj-ud-Daulah — The Nawab of Bengal whose resistance to the expanding British East India Company takes the story back more than 200 years. Tipu Sultan — The “Tiger of Mysore,” remembered for his determined resistance against British expansion and his final stand against the East India Company. Bahadur Shah Zafar — The last Mughal emperor, whose name became closely associated with the 1857 uprising in Delhi and the end of the Mughal dynasty. Bahadur Shah Zafar’s sons and princess — The book also discusses members of the Mughal royal family and the devastating consequences they faced during and after the events of 1857. Begum Hazrat Mahal — One of the prominent women associated with the 1857 resistance, who led opposition to British rule in Awadh. Bakht Khan — A major military figure of the 1857 uprising who emerged as an important leader of the resistance in Delhi. Bahadur Khan — Another figure identified by the publisher among the Muslim personalities covered in the first volume. The second volume moves into the modern Indian freedom struggle, bringing in personalities such as: Ashfaqulla Khan — Revolutionary freedom fighter associated with the Kakori action; the book also discusses how his execution inspired later revolutionaries. Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar — A major political and Khilafat leader whose anti-colonial activism became an important part of the early twentieth-century freedom movement. Maulana Shaukat Ali — Mohammad Ali Jauhar’s brother and a prominent leader of the Khilafat movement and anti-British mobilisation. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad — Scholar, journalist and nationalist leader whose intellectual and political leadership became an important part of India’s freedom movement. Maulana Hasrat Mohani — Poet, journalist and political activist associated with the demand for complete independence and the wider anti-colonial movement. Dr. Mukhtar Ansari — A prominent nationalist leader and political figure associated with India’s freedom movement. Begum Jaha Ara — One of the women included among the lesser-known personalities documented in the second volume. Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan — The major non-violent anti-colonial leader associated with the Khudai Khidmatgar movement, who worked against British rule and alongside the wider nationalist movement. Kidwai — The publisher also identifies Kidwai among the personalities discussed in the second volume. And these are not presented as the only personalities in the books — the publisher itself says the volumes cover “many more” figures. WHY THIS HISTORY MATTERS The Indian freedom struggle was not a single movement led by a single community. It was a vast and complicated history involving Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and people from countless communities and regions. The stories of Indian Muslim freedom fighters are therefore not separate from Indian history. They are Indian history. This video is an attempt to bring some of those names, sacrifices and contributions back into the conversation — so that the next generation knows that the history of India’s freedom movement is much larger than the handful of names we usually remember. Indian Muslims. Indian freedom struggle. Indian history. British rule. British Raj. Freedom fighters of India. Muslim freedom fighters. Revolt of 1857. Khilafat Movement. Indian Independence Movement. Anti-British resistance. Unsung heroes of India. Forgotten freedom fighters. 🇮🇳 Know the history. Remember the names. Pass the stories forward.
