Royal Enfield has finally lifted the wraps off the new Himalayan 750. 743cc, 54.2bhp, 63Nm, a new spine frame and twin front discs. This is our walkaround of Royal Enfield’s new statement motorcycle, an adventure bike built on the 650 twin but with a completely different chassis. Royal Enfield says more than 90 per cent of the internals in the new 743cc engine are new, with the same stroke and a larger bore taking it up from 649cc. Power is 54.2bhp at 7,000rpm and torque is 63Nm at 5,000rpm, with 90 per cent of that torque available from about 3,500rpm. Magnesium engine covers, a single throttle body and ride-by-wire help keep weight down. The twin-downtube frame is gone, replaced by a box-section spine frame with the engine as a stressed member. The Showa upside-down fork adjusts rebound, compression, and preload, and the rear shock has a remote preload knob with 30 clicks, so you can adjust the setting for luggage or a pillion without a spanner. It rolls on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel with twin 282mm front discs, a first for Royal Enfield. The seat height is 815mm, with lower and touring seat options that also change the pillion seat. Weight is 224kg with the 17.8-litre tank 90 per cent full. Everything except colour and wheel choice is standard: five ride modes (Road, Sport, Rain, Trail and Custom), multi-level traction control and cornering ABS from a six-axis IMU, tyre pressure monitoring that shows actual pressure, cruise control, adjustable levers and a five-position windscreen. Givi side bags, top boxes and rackless panniers are on offer. Prices will be revealed at Motoverse, and we expect a starting price of around ₹5 lakh ex-showroom. #evoIndia #royalenfield #royalenfieldhimalayan #himalayan750 #himalayan #rehimalayan #bikes #firstlook #motorcycles #eicma Want more #ThrillOfDriving videos?
