How Childhood Trauma Affects Us Across a Lifetime | Fight, Flight, Freeze & Fawn — Part 3 #trauma What happens when the survival strategies we developed in childhood follow us into adulthood? In Part Three of this series, we explore the four common trauma-response patterns: Fight, Flight, Freeze, and Fawn — and how these patterns can continue influencing the way we behave, relate to others, see ourselves, and navigate life. The strategies that once helped a child feel safer can sometimes become patterns that continue long after the original circumstances have changed. In this video, we explore: 🔴 FIGHT — anger, irritability, defensiveness, control, and perfectionism 🔵 FLIGHT — anxious busyness, workaholism, distraction, and constantly staying occupied 🟣 FREEZE — numbness, dissociation, brain fog, indecision, and difficulty identifying emotions 🟢 FAWN — people-pleasing, self-abandonment, conflict avoidance, and difficulty saying no We also look at how childhood trauma can show up in four major areas of adult life: • Your body • Your relationships • How you see yourself • The traits others may simply call your “personality” Trauma responses are not necessarily signs of weakness or personal failure. They can be adaptations developed in response to experiences that once felt overwhelming or unsafe. Understanding these patterns can be an important first step toward awareness, healing, and trauma integration.
