Ema Dhoni Devi shares her inspiring journey in the field of Lai Haraoba, her spiritual experiences, cultural contributions, achievements, and lifelong dedication to preserving the rich heritage of Manipur. Having trained numerous Amaibis and represented Manipuri culture on various national and international platforms, she is regarded as one of the foremost custodians of the ancient Lai Haraoba tradition. She served as Sanglakpi at Amaibi Loisang, Pandit Loisang from 1996 to 2010 and has been serving as the 2nd Ngamthang Asuppi at Uttra Shanglen, Sana Konung, Imphal since September 2010. Since 2000, she has also been associated with JNMDA as a Visiting Guru for Lai Haraoba P.G.Courses and has been a Guru of Laihui since 1990. Dhoni Devi received training under eminent Amaibis including Late Rajo Amaibi, Baruni Amaibi, Late Kumari Amaibi, and Late Yumsang Amaibi. . Her notable contributions include presenting Lai Haraoba at the Brahaddesi Sangeet Mahotsav organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, serving as a resource person in many productions of Laihui, conducting workshops and demonstrations, and imparting Manipuri dance and culture to visiting groups from Myanmar and Thailand. She is also a columnist on Amaibi culture and has composed and won recognition for Chakpa Jagoi performances. As a dedicated teacher, she has trained many Amaibis since 1980 and has successfully produced more than twenty-five Amaibis, contributing significantly to the preservation and transmission of Manipuri indigenous knowledge and ritual traditions.
