Gaurav Anand, a resident of Jharkhand, participated in Namami Gange Mission to clean the Ganga river in the year 2018. The mission ended after a few days, but even after the mission was over, Gaurav used to go to clean the river every Sunday. Meanwhile, while cleaning, he came to know about the hyacinth grass which was ruining the river ponds. Water hyacinth engulfs the rivers very fast, due to which sunlight cannot reach the river bed. To turn this problem into a resource, Gaurav decided to extract fiber from water hyacinth and make sarees from it! For this he even left his corporate job! But how was the saree made? See, to make a saree from water hyacinth, they first cut and dry the branches of water hyacinth, after that they boil it and extract the fiber and then saree is made from that fiber! Gaurav has made 50 fusion sarees till now and the one who collects water hyacinth Also provided employment to 450 women!
