In this film breakdown and historical review, former Colombo family Caporegime Michael Franzese gives his candid assessment of Tom Hardy’s dual performance portraying both brothers. Drawing parallels between 1960s London and Prohibition-era Chicago under Al Capone, Michael examines the extreme contrast between Reggie’s sharp business instincts and Ronnie’s paranoid, unhinged violence. Michael also pulls back the curtain on the real-world historical connection between the American Mafia and the Kray firm, detailing how syndicate architect Meyer Lansky dispatched representatives to negotiate lucrative European casino and gambling partnerships with the twins. Reflecting on the heartbreaking dynamic between the brothers and Reggie’s wife, Frances Shea, Michael shares deeply personal memories of trying to protect his own troubled brother and father in the underworld. Recounting his visit to London where he stood inside the very courthouse cell where the Krays were once held, Michael explains why unchecked street violence always guarantees the exact same tragic ending: life sentences, courtroom betrayals, and devastating loss. 0:00 - Reviewing Legend: Tom Hardy as Reggie and Ronnie Kray 0:41 - Comparing 1960s London to Al Capone's Chicago 1:42 - Undercover Surveillance: Offering Coffee to the Detectives 2:49 - Reggie Kray, Frances Shea & The Tragic Love Story 4:05 - Ronnie Kray: Unhinged Violence & Psychiatric Confinement 6:36 - The Rival Torture Gang & The Ball-Peen Hammer Brawl 8:44 - Buying the Esmeralda Club & The Fixer Lawyer 9:36 - When the American Mafia & Meyer Lansky Moved into London 11:25 - Prison Violence: Reggie Handcuffs a Brutal Guard 12:42 - Ronnie Destroys the Club: The Clash Between Two Brothers 14:48 - Bribing the Government: The Krays Beat an Extortion Case 17:07 - Ronnie Murders George in Broad Daylight: Six Eyewitnesses 18:44 - Michael Franzese on Protecting a Destructive Family Member 21:39 - Frances Shea’s Tragic Downfall: The Heavy Toll on Mob Wives 24:13 - The Fixer Flips: Life Sentences for the Kray Twins 26:00 - Why Crime Always Ends in Prison or Death 27:20 - Standing Inside the Krays' Actual London Courthouse Jail Cell
