We originally created it for Cadillac's 5 second film contest, where you could win a brand new CTS-V performance sedan (https://www.autonews.com/article/20050307/SUB/503070728/cadillac-has-winner-for-5-second-films). We didn't win this competition. We didn't know it at the time, we were essentially creating a Vine video way before Vine existed. Right after we came up with the idea we ran out to film it on a cold, rainy winter afternoon in Chicago, Illinois in the Lakeview neighborhood on W. Surf street. It was shot by Bud Johnston. Joe Ackerman is the man, the banana is me. People gathered on the street during filming, thinking it was performance art. It was filmed in February 2005, and only posted once by me, to YouTube in 2006 (the moment I read an article about this new video platform called "YouTube" in Newsweek magazine). This was filmed in February 2005, and posted 1+ year later to YouTube the moment I heard about YouTube. It has not been posted by *me* to any other platform but for this original YouTube upload. It took 12.5 years to reach 1MM views on YouTube, but surpassed this milestone years ago across all web platforms. Thanks for watching! Twitter – @natepbrown.com
