It’s day two of Storm Ingrid here in Dawlish, and conditions along the seafront remain very challenging. In this video, I head out with my camera to document how the town is coping as the storm continues to batter the South Devon coastline. I start by visiting the Black Swans on The Brook, checking in on them as water levels and wind remain elevated. From there, I make my way down to the seafront to show the ongoing impacts of the storm on the promenade, sea wall, and surrounding areas. As you’ll see, the power of the sea is still immense. While filming from across the road, well away from the sea wall, I’m caught out by a huge wave that sends spray and debris much further inland than expected. It’s a stark reminder of just how unpredictable and forceful these conditions can be. This footage gives a ground-level view of Dawlish during an active coastal storm, showing not just the waves, but the atmosphere, the wind, and the reality of being out there as the weather unfolds.
