Everything we know about Mel Gibson's The Resurrection of the Christ — the sequel to The Passion: release dates, the new Jesus, Christ's descent into hell, and the fall of Lucifer. Mel Gibson has revealed that his two-part Resurrection movie will be "an acid trip" — a story that begins before creation with the fall of the angels and ends with the death of the last apostle. In this video we break down every confirmed detail: the descent into the "hell of the just" where Christ speaks to the righteous dead, the war in heaven between the Archangel Michael and Lucifer, and why Gibson rejected the Book of Enoch in favor of traditional Catholic and Orthodox sources. We also cover the complete new cast: Finnish actor Jaakko Ohtonen replacing Jim Caviezel as Jesus (and why Caviezel was recast), Kasia Smutniak as the Virgin Mary, Mariela Garriga as Mary Magdalene — plus the mystery of the ONE actor returning from The Passion. Could it be Rosalinda Celentano, who played Satan? You'll hear what Gibson told Joe Rogan, Raymond Arroyo and the 700 Club about the full Sermon on the Mount Easter egg, the sets of Jerusalem, Damascus, Rome and Egypt, the 200+ speaking roles, Randall Wallace's script going into the Acts of the Apostles, and the martyrdom of Peter and Paul under Nero. In this video: • Release dates: Part 1 on May 6, 2027 — Part 2 on May 26, 2028 (both Ascension Thursday) • Christ's descent into hell and the harrowing of the just • The fall of Lucifer and the war of the angels • Why Jim Caviezel is NOT returning as Jesus • The one actor carried over from The Passion • Abraham, Moses, David and Solomon in the film • The Sermon on the Mount filmed in full • "Nobody dies for a lie" — the martyrdom of the apostles #MelGibson #TheResurrectionOfTheChrist #PassionOfTheChrist #Jesus #BibleMovie 0:00 Everything We Know About The Resurrection 0:21 The "Acid Trip" Script Gibson Chose 1:27 Who Is the Villain?
