The protest focused on demands related to the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, while allegations concerning the treatment of women protesters and journalists by Delhi Police also became a major issue. Yogendra Yadav and several activists participated in the protest. Ahead of the India Gate–Jantar Mantar march, Delhi Police deployed thousands of personnel, including RAF and paramilitary forces, and installed multi-layer barricades across several routes. Police said permission had not been granted for the march. Protesters were seen attempting to move past police barricades while heading towards Jantar Mantar. Several protesters were detained during demonstrations in central Delhi, while more than a dozen AAP workers were also reported detained at India Gate. Neha Bora and Yogendra Yadav have emerged as prominent faces of the ongoing demonstrations. Both had also been detained during the previous day’s protest near Jantar Mantar, following which Yogendra Yadav announced the October 4 Citizens’ March from India Gate to Jantar Mantar. The protests have also intensified following serious allegations by women journalists regarding the conduct of police officers while covering the October 3 demonstration. Delhi Police confirmed receiving complaints from three women journalists and said the allegations had been transferred to the Crime Branch for investigation.
