It starts with store bought cake mix and a couple of boxes of Jell-O, and it's topped with a sweet and creamy combination of Cool-Whip and marshmallow cream. Read on for the easy recipe. Patriotic Poke Cake white cake (store bought cake mix baked according to package directions) 1 (3 oz.) package blueberry Jell-O 1 (3 oz.) package strawberry Jell-O 1 cup boiling water, divided 1 (8 oz.) tub Cool Whip 1 (7 oz.) container marshmallow fluff *fresh strawberries & blueberries (optional) After baking cakes according to directions on package, allow to cool completely. Then use the back end of a wooden spoon to poke holes into cake about an inch apart. Place Jell-O in separate bowls and mix each flavor with 1/2 a cup of boiling water until Jell-O is dissolved. Spoon liquid Jell-O into holes in cake, alternating the colors. Place in refrigerator to chill for 15 minutes. Combine Cool Whip with Marshmallow fluff to make frosting.
