I had a 3-year-long chronic illness, and it turned out my body REALLY didn’t like something in my shower. I’m hopeful this time that this solution sticks. So far, it has been the most successful for the longest of anything I’ve tried and I love feeling better. 🤞 This took 2.5 years and lots of doctors’ appointments where all testing turned up normal. The first break in the case was someone commenting to get checked for binocular vision dysfunction (BVD), and then my wonderful BVD specialist suggesting that something ELSE was impacting my nervous system, causing the vision dysfunction. Then an angel of a person DM’d me suggesting I check whether I’d started any new shampoo/face wash/lotion etc. in that timeline. I also started tracking the days I felt better, and I always felt better on trips away from home. So I narrowed it down to something I was doing/using/eating specifically at home. That’s how I landed on the tea tree oil shampoo. I waited a LONG time to update because I wanted to be SURE stopping the shampoo made a difference. And I’ve been able to notice a few other triggers as well. A lot of people are asking if I was rubbing the shampoo in my eyes. No. This is the best way I can explain what I experienced: it’s more like how an allergy works, where your body has a weird reaction to something you’re breathing in or rubbing on your skin. My body tells me it’s angry, not by breaking out in hives or making my eyes itchy, but by making my eyes not work very well with my brain. Which leads to a lot of other symptoms. That doesn’t mean tea tree oil shampoo is bad for everyone. Just like with allergies, it’s specific to my body. So if you’re having similar symptoms, there might be something you’re ingesting or using that isn’t friendly with YOUR body. And if you’re the woman who sent that DM, please message me because YOU CHANGED MY LIFE. #kelsewhatelse #bvd #chronicillness #medicalmystery #binocularvisiondysfunction
