Yoshifumi Sodeyama better known as DJ Sodeyama is one of Japan’s most respected DJ’s and producers in the field of underground Techno, having released a string of releases via the likes of трип, Arpa and Kumo, and featuring remixes from the likes of Radio Slave, Nick Curly and Ryo Murakami. Here though we see him returning under his The People In Fog guise, focused on sound design and a cinematic feel, for the Sound Of Vast imprint, following 2014's ‘Deep’ EP and 2016’s ‘Higher’ EP. Title-track ‘Last Song’ opens the release on a raw and hypnotic vibe with murky textural synths, intricately modulating glitched-out percussion running alongside warm reversed synth swells and emotive piano chords. ‘Get Funky’ follows and lays focus on a more percussive driven aesthetic, bringing shuffled rhythms to the forefront whilst rounded sub drones, airy chords and choppy vocals ebb and flow through the groove. ‘Alright’ then rounds out the package, again bringing organic percussion into the limelight whilst dubby echoing stabs and filtered vocals deftly wander throughout.
