George Stephanopoulos began his career in the public eye as an adviser to the Democratic Party and worked on Michael Dukakis’s 1988 presidential campaign. He was appointed communications director for Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign and subsequently became White House communications director. He departed this post after Clinton’s first term to become a political analyst for ABC News. This position led to other journalistic opportunities at ABC News as chief anchor for World News Tonight, host of the Sunday public affairs program This Week, and as a co-anchor of Good Morning America. Across his award-winning career he’s become a trusted voice and familiar presence, not least of all for the high-profile interviews he’s secured with presidents, world leaders, celebrities, and everyday people.
