Hi! I'm Tuma, a Japanese woman living in Tohoku, Japan. Enjoying the solo life. πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ A rainy day in Tohoku, on a small income. A walk through the wet park. Manga at the library, listening to the rain on the roof. Plum wine, slowly prepared β€” something to open on a cold winter night, months from now. The weather doesn't decide if a day is good. I do. I hope this brings a little quiet into your day β˜” ───────────────────── β–Ά RECIPE ───────────────────── πŸ™ Yaki Onigiri (Grilled rice ball β€” crispy outside, soft inside) Ingredients (1 serving) ・Cooked rice β€” 1 bowl ・Mentsuyu β€” to taste ・Ginger β€” to taste ・Sesame oil β€” for frying Instructions β‘  Mix rice with mentsuyu and ginger. Shape into a rice ball. β‘‘ Pan-fry in sesame oil, grilling both sides until golden and crispy. ───────────────────── 🍈 Umeshu (Japanese plum wine β€” a rainy season tradition) Ingredients ・Green plums β€” as many as desired ・Rock sugar β€” to taste (try different amounts in each jar!) ・Liquor of 20% alcohol or higher (e.g. white liquor / shochu) Instructions β‘  Sterilize jar with boiling water and let dry completely. β‘‘ Wash plums, dry well, and remove the stems. Check for any blemishes and remove them. β‘’ Layer plums and rock sugar in the jar. Pour in the liquor. β‘£ Store in a cool, dark place. Ready to drink in about 6 months. ⚠️ In Japan, home-brewed alcohol must use liquor of 20% or higher by law.
