What if a tooth grew in a place it was never meant to be, like the eye socket? In this video, Dr. Karthikeyan explains a very rare condition called an ectopic tooth, reported in a teenage boy from Tamil Nadu, where a tooth was found growing near the eye. What is an ectopic tooth? Normally, teeth develop in the jaw and come up into the mouth in a set order. Sometimes a tooth bud forms in the wrong position and the tooth grows somewhere else. This is called an ectopic tooth. It is most often seen in the jaw, but in very rare cases a tooth can be found in unusual areas such as the nose or the eye socket (orbit). Why does it happen? Doctors believe it comes down to a developmental error. Tooth-forming tissue ends up in the wrong place while the face is developing before birth, and a tooth then forms there. It is not caused by anything the child ate or did. How is it found and treated? A tooth in an unusual location can cause swelling, pain, a change in how the eye looks, or repeated infections. Doctors usually confirm it with a CT scan or X-ray. Treatment is typically surgical removal of the tooth, planned carefully by the surgical team because of how close it sits to important structures. Why does this matter? Cases like this are rare, but they are a good reminder that persistent swelling or unusual changes in the face or eye should always be checked by a doctor early, not ignored. 👍 Like this video if you found it helpful. 💬 Share it with someone who is hesitant about braces because of extraction myths. 🔔 Subscribe to @DentaKings for expert dental advice, orthodontic tips, and smile transformation stories. #ectopictooth #supernumericteeth #toothextraction #smiledesign #smileenhancement #smilecorrection #smilemakeover #smilecreation #dental #dentistry #dentalcare #dentalhealth #dentalhealthcare #dentalhygiene #oral #oralhealth #oralhygiene #oralcare #oralcaretips #dentistinchennai #indiandentist #digitaldentalclinic #digitaldentistry #digitaldentist #teethcare #teethcaretips #drkarthikeyan #dentakings #cosmeticdentistry #cosmeticdentist #draparna Visit: http://www.dentakings.com Contact: [email protected] Call: +91-9994009656 Facebook: facebook.com/DentaKings Instagram: instagram.com/dentakings Twitter: https://twitter.com/dentakings
