Welcome back to CMF Kids! This time we're in Shanghai, China, staying right in the heart of Lujiazui at the incredible IFC Residence Shanghai, in a huge 3 bedroom serviced residence with one of the best locations we've experienced in Shanghai! As always, fully narrated by 8 year old Freddie with expert commentary from 15 year old big sis Celina and 13 year old big bro Maxi. Our setup: 3 Bedroom Residence • 3 separate bedrooms • Large living & dining area • Full kitchen • Multiple bathrooms • In-room laundry facilities • Plenty of space for a family of five • Fantastic Shanghai city views For us, this was a huge advantage over booking multiple hotel rooms. Everyone had their own space, while we still had a proper living and dining area where the whole family could relax together. After a full day exploring Shanghai, coming back to an actual apartment rather than squeezing five people into hotel rooms was brilliant! 📍 LOCATION – HARD TO BEAT! IFC Residence is in Lujiazui, Shanghai's spectacular financial district in Pudong. We were staying practically next door to the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower, surrounded by some of the tallest and most famous skyscrapers in the world. Within easy walking distance: 🔴 Oriental Pearl Tower 🏙️ Shanghai Tower 🏢 Shanghai World Financial Center 🏢 Jin Mao Tower 🛍️ Shanghai IFC Mall 🌊 Huangpu River 🚇 Lujiazui Metro Station 🍜 Endless restaurants, cafés & shopping Every time you walk outside, you're surrounded by the incredible Shanghai skyline. During the day it's impressive, but at night, when the whole Lujiazui skyline lights up, it's absolutely spectacular! 🛍️ IFC MALL ON THE DOORSTEP Another massive advantage is having Shanghai IFC Mall virtually downstairs. Restaurants, cafés, shopping and everyday essentials were incredibly easy to access — something we really appreciated travelling with three kids. No long trip just to find dinner or grab something from the shops. Simply head downstairs and you're right in the middle of everything. 🏊 HOTEL FACILITIES + APARTMENT LIVING Although IFC Residence gives you the space and practicality of an apartment, you still get excellent hotel-style facilities. 🏊 Indoor swimming pool 🏋️ Fitness centre 🧘 Recreation & relaxation facilities 🏠 Huge family-sized apartments 🍳 Kitchen facilities 🧺 In-room laundry For families, it's a great combination, the space and convenience of an apartment with many of the facilities you'd expect from a luxury hotel. 🌃 EXPLORING SHANGHAI With Lujiazui Metro Station nearby, getting around this enormous city was surprisingly easy. We could easily explore: 📍 The Bund 📍 Nanjing Road 📍 Yu Garden & Old City 📍 People's Square 📍 Xintiandi 📍 French Concession 📍 Shanghai Museum 🏰 Shanghai Disneyland The Bund is especially impressive at night, looking back across the Huangpu River towards the futuristic Pudong skyline. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 GREAT FOR A FAMILY OF FIVE Standard hotel rooms can be difficult when travelling with three children, particularly on a longer overseas trip. Having three proper bedrooms, a large living area, kitchen and laundry made a massive difference. Add in: ✔️ Incredible Lujiazui location ✔️ Oriental Pearl Tower next door ✔️ Shanghai Tower nearby ✔️ IFC Mall on the doorstep ✔️ Metro access ✔️ 3 separate bedrooms ✔️ Kitchen & laundry ✔️ Indoor pool & gym ✔️ Restaurants and shopping everywhere …and IFC Residence becomes a seriously compelling alternative to booking multiple luxury hotel rooms. ⭐ OUR VERDICT If you're travelling to Shanghai as a family and want space + location + convenience, IFC Residence Shanghai is very hard to beat. Being right in the middle of the incredible Lujiazui skyline made the location feel special every day, while having IFC Mall and the Metro so close made exploring Shanghai with three kids incredibly convenient. Best of all, after a huge day sightseeing, we could come home to a proper 3 bedroom residence where everyone had room to spread out and relax. This was definitely one of our favourite family accommodation setups of the trip!
