Filmed on July 3rd, 2024 with @PNWElevatorAviation. Happy New Year Everyone! I hope everyone had a safe Christmas last week, and I hope that you all are having a Wonderful New Years Day as well! Something tells me that 2025 is going to be a great year, and so today, we need to ring in the New Year with something VERY VERY Special! Ever since the Brand New One World Trade Center opened in 2014 and I read an article about the New Building at the time and its elevators, I have wanted to come here SO BADLY! And well, fast forward nearly 10 years later, I have FINALLY made it here! And OMG do the elevators REALLY live up to the hype! The Observatory Elevators go up 102 floors at 1368 feet HIGH, and with a top speed of 2000 FPM, these elevators are the FASTEST Elevators in the Western Hemisphere, and these are also the FASTEST Elevators I've EVER been on! Interestingly though, despite these elevators traveling at the speed that they do, they don't exactly feel it. You don't get a Dramatic Acceleration going up or down, but rather just a gentle pressure on startup and stopping. That being said, the fact Thyssenkrupp was able to engineer something that goes THIS fast and for riders to feel so little of it shows how much work they put into this installation. The screens in the cabs showing the progress of the NYC skyline are also very impressive too, and even though you may not feel these elevators accelerate much, going down you get this very unique illusion that the elevator is tilting to the left or right as the movie plays! It might be freaky to some, I thought it made these elevators a TON of fun to ride. And to put it simply, even though these elevators are 10 years old now, they are so technologically impressive to the point if you told me they were brand new, I'd believe it. In addition to riding the elevators here, I also went around the Observation Deck and got views of the city. I do personally find it unfortunate that this building doesn't have an Outdoor Observation Deck area, especially since the building it replaced did, but the views from up top are the highest in all of New York City, and they're very much impressive nonetheless. No video or photo can capture how spectacular both the views from this building and how fun and immersive the elevators here are, and this building and its elevators are an ABSOLUTE MUST VISIT at least ONCE in your lifetime! Coming here was very much a magical and special experience having wanted to come here for so long, this is definitely a memory that will last a lifetime.
