The OPUS Innovation upgrades are complete for my Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series! Let's put it straight on the dyno to see the new power figures, plenty opportunities for a sound check with the new exhaust, and then take it for a Vmax run on the Autobahn to the top speed of 205 mph (330 kmh). After dropping off the GT Black Series at the end of the Black Series tour a few weeks ago, I am reunited with my Solarbeam yellow AMG supercar. During my absence, the team at OPUS installed a new exhaust upgrade to the car featuring HJS catalysts, which was developed in-house by the German company. The exhaust changes are accompanied by a Stage 1 ECU upgrade to provide an additional boost in performance. The result is a mind-blowing hike from the stock 775 hp to 847 hp, which is close to 10% more performance on a mild tune. Further performance upgrades will be available in the future with OPUS planning a 1000+ hp version of the GT Black Series for anyone interested. After listening to the system on the dyno and discussing the final results together with Lukas Domogalla, the owner of OPUS, it is time to take the GT BS for a short spin on local roads near the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Up on return at OPUS's workshop, we install a blow-off valve kit for more audible drama from underneath the bonnet. The final part of the day consists of the ultimate test hitting Vmax and seeing how the upgrades have improved the performance of the GT Black Series. The results are astonishing and the mid-range performance absolutely blows my mind. 205mph (330 kmh) is the hard limiter, but it is capable of achieving so much more. Vmax limiter removal next?
