ArtCraft is a family of free, open-source creative apps called CraftApps. PhotoCraft handles image editing, VectorCraft handles illustration, FilmCraft handles video editing, and EffectCraft handles motion graphics and visual effects. The family also includes LightCraft (organizing and developing photos), DesignCraft (page layouts), and PdfCraft (PDFs). ArtCraft also has an AI image and video studio, but this video focuses on the individual apps. Can ArtCraft open Photoshop and Illustrator files? In our tests, yes. PhotoCraft opened an Envato PSD template with text, images, and layers intact. We changed the headline, colors, and logo, then saved and reopened the file to confirm the edits stuck. VectorCraft let us recolor shapes, move and resize graphics, and edit text in a vector template. Can ArtCraft open Premiere Pro or After Effects projects? Not currently. FilmCraft and EffectCraft can't directly open Premiere Pro or After Effects project files, so we tested with Envato stock footage instead: trimming and exporting in FilmCraft, then adding a title fade-in in EffectCraft. Is ArtCraft legal and safe to use? The developers describe their approach as clean room rebuilding, using public information and observed behavior without copying Adobe's proprietary code.
