Paragliding is essentially a foot launched aero sports in which the Paraglider ‘Pilot’ uses a ‘Paraglider canopy’ to take off from a mountain slope or from a flat ground using a winch, glides through the air climbing at times to the cloud base using ‘Thermals’ eventually ‘landing’ on a flat ground. Paragliding in India has been one of the most loved adventure activities as it unleashes the adventurer in you and lets you relish upon numerous views of the surrounding nature ranging from snow capped hills to vast sea sides. The paragliding sessions at places like Nandi Hills and Kamshet will give you a chance to catch the glimpses of the lofty hills of the Western Ghats and the beautiful terrains and topographies. Other than the serenity, the thrill, the rush of adrenaline and the racing heart which one feels here has no comparison. With the combination of high altitude and artificial wings, there is a lot to take in as you soar above. Paragliding is all about elevation and the views which one catches from above. You can plan out your vacation at some of the best places for paragliding in India like Bir - Billing, Bhimtal and Panchgani and can conquer the sky in style. From tandem to solo, you can choose from both options and can challenge the adventure junkie within you. Paragliding demands jumping from high heels and to ski in the air for long hours. Therefore, a hill station having a stiff peak and a wide area for surfing in the air will be a suitable environment. If it will be played in any normal crowded area, then it is obvious that the user will face difficulty while paragliding. The area must also be free from any airline path so that the player should not face any emergency landing system due to an airplane approach. Adequate safety and protection must be taken care of before flying so that player can fly comfortably for long hours. To begin, weather conditions will vary among the different paragliding locations. Before paragliding, one should be completely aware of wind speeds. If there is no wind, it can be extremely hard to navigate throughout the air. But, if the wind is too strong, then it can be extremely dangerous to fly. The maximum high wind speed for beginners is usually 9 mph. The wind speed range for intermediate paragliders usually ranges from 10 mph to 18 mph. Advanced and expert paragliders can choose to fly in whatever wind speed they please. But overall, paragliders, no matter what skill level they are, should never fly in winds over 30 mph. Although 30 mph winds may not seem that fast, it seems a lot faster when you are flying in the air, rather than when you are on ground level. Another thing that paragliders should pay attention to; is the wind direction. Make sure that you are aware of what direction you are launching from, and the specific wind direction that it should be flowing from. You do not want to end up getting caught in the wind and risking your safety. How Paragliding works:- It’s a glider, it flies based on the same principles of the sailplanes and hang gliders. You glide through the air and you search for rising air in order to gain altitude. You can fly for hours in this way. Practically, in order to control direction you basically pull the right control handle to turn right, same for the left control handle. Pull both to slow down. The Paraglider is a simple and safe flying machine but learning to fly is not as simple as it looks. Not having an engine and getting into turbulent air in order to gain height requires some knowledge, so it is quite important to get a proper education and to get experience in proper safe conditions. Can anyone paraglide :- No, not everyone can fly a paraglider. However, there are two main forms of paraglider flight: solo flight and tandem flight. Solo flight involves enrolling in a course at an approved school, and tandem flight means buying a flight with a company that takes passengers. To fly solo, you need to be fit enough to walk up small hills and carry weighing up to 20kg (44lbs). You also need to be steady on your feet, have good balance and to be able to run fifty or so paces during take-off. You will also need to pass written exams and satisfy your instructor that you have the right attitude to be allowed to fly solo. To fly tandem, you only need to be able to follow your pilot’s instructions and to be able to run for take-off. There are some organizations that fly wheelchair users, such as Fly ability in the UK.
