  • About Numberblocks: Number Comparison (Zero to Beyond Infinity)

  • UPDATE: Holy jesus. I never knew this video was going to get 20M+ views! I guess it’s because of the Made for Kids turned on by YT, even though this was supposed to be not made for kids due to huge numbers. And this video feels old even after one year, and I’ve even made 300+ fanmade NBs too. Thanks for all the support, guys!) This video took me a while to do. But it’s finally out! Seven weeks were spent working on this, while I did take some breaks in between. I’m not the biggest NB fan out there, but watching these Numberblocks number to number videos really gave me the urge to make one of these. In fact, I’ve think I’ve done a much better job than most people have done their NB Comparisons, as I’ve put a bit more effort into this! Keep in mind: This is updated as of season 8, and NO fanmade figured out Numberblocks were used, except for the changes that were seen past 10^3003. And I made a mistake when I calculated the size of Numberland: see a bit further down below. Okay, let’s talk about what happens: We first start at Zero, who is nothing. She says her name, then we go to One, who says her name, and the cycle repeats: 2, 3, 4, 5, … Since not all NBs have been figured out, most will have to be shown as compounds, like 34. A bit later, we reach 125. Counting by 1s takes a while, doesn’t it? Well, we start counting by tens! 130, 140, 150, … At 300 to 500, we start to increase the number by 100s, so 600, 700, 800, 900… 1000! At this point, we increase it by 1000s. They’re bigger than the regular ones, as you can see that each block equals 1000. At 30 000, we go up by 10 000, while passing the infamous 97 104. At 100 000, we go up by 100 000s, and then we reach 1 Million. Now every time we reach the next Order of Magnitude, we increase the number 1 OoM more than the previous OoM. So it’s 1M, 2M, 3M, … 10M, 20M, 30M, … At One Billion, the background changes to get a bit of sense of scale. That’s where the mistake comes in: I made Numberland around the size of planet Earth in this, but as seen in What If?, 1 Billion was almost the size of it. If one NB equals 1 metre, 1000 would be 10m (As it’s 10x 10x 10x), 1M would be 100m and 1B would be 1000m/1km. Numberland is supposed to be 2-4km, not 10 000km. By 1 Quintillion, the NB is around the size of Numberland, so it goes off into space. Around this point, we start to 10x the Numberblock, as the previous method would take a while. By 1 Decillion it’s the size of a Solar System (I made it based off the NB planets from Flights of Fancy), and by Vigintillion it is the size of a Galaxy. Also at 1 Vigintillion, we start to multiply it by 1000 each time to make it go even faster. The NB outgrows the (observable) universe at Sexvigintillion, and grows into the unknown cosmos beyond that point. We past Googol (10^100). Notice that the shape of the NB’s eye changes from circular to square for every -illion: It’s because that the square eyed-NBs are square numbers, and the Circular eyed-NBs are not. After a while, we reach Centillion (10^303). Then a change happens: the voices start to get deeper and deeper, and we grow even faster, up to multiplying by 10^300 every time. Then we reach Millinillion (10^3003). For a brief moment, One comments how she’s seen a number that’s so big (Which is taken from One Thousand and One), then we continue. But at this point, the NB’s voices are too deep, so almost every number after that is accompanied by a text-to-speech voice. To make it less boring, I decided to put music over this point. New changes start happening, as the background and the NBs start to change colours. Their eyes are completely square, and they’re either blue, green purple, or even black. We pass humongous numbers like Googolplex, Killillion, and Skewe’s Numbers. Then I use a base for the NBs after Multillion, as we reach into the Tetrational stage. Even later, we pass Graham’s Number, TREE(3), and lots of others. The background starts to change into lots of different colours, as we travel through the world of colossal numbers. After passing the Giant Rayo’s Number and Utter Oblivion, we reach Infinity! The background changes back into the first one, but it’s color shifted, like if it’s a higher-level reality version of Numberblocks. And finally, we end this video by going past all of the infinite ordinals in set theory. I had to make around 38 videos for this, then put them all together in Splice, then wait for them to save. It took a long time to make all 38, plus I had to update some of them to fit in with the new NBs coming out, or other things. Credits: Huge Credit to Numberblocks, which is owned by BlueZoo/BBC. Also small credit to Arifmetix, for some of the faces for the large numbers. Music: Numberblocks Theme Intrumental (At the beginning and end) Newtonia I (After 10^3003) Rubix Cube (Near the end of the video) There are some little mistakes in this video, but just simply enjoy the numbers going up. -DoDeca D.
