STORE PAGE https://store.pixelfilmstudios.com/product/propuppet Welcome to a ProPuppet tutorial from Pixel Film Studios In this tutorial weâll be going over how to warp an image, and how to animate an image using ProPuppet Letâs get started. Weâll begin by dragging a ProPuppet directly into the Final Cut Pro timeline. Next, weâll insert a .png image, or picture with transparency, into the drop zone, then click âNew Imageâ. Weâll use the media scale slider to adjust its size. Now that we have the image, weâll set up the puppet mesh. Select âShow Meshâ to reveal the polygons that make up the image. With the Expand Mesh slider, we can scale the mesh to include any details the image analyzation process may have missed. With the vertices slider, we can change the density of the mesh. The greater the detail, the more accurate the transformation will be. Now weâre ready to create some pins. Hold down the âshiftâ key to click and create a pin. A âcontrol pointâ will appear under âPuppet Pin Controlsâ for each newly created pin. To delete a pin, hold down the âAltâ key and click. Each pins act as an anchor point for the transformation. Click and drag any pin to warp the mesh with respect to the other anchor points. Now that weâve covered the basics, weâll move onto animation. In this example, we want animate our character to perform a popular dance move. First, weâll create a handful of pins on the arms and the head. For this animation, the left arm goes over the subjectâs face. To do this, weâll need to use to mesh brush tool to establish which parts of the mesh will appear on top when they overlap. Hold down the âOptionâ key, click, and drag to highlight the areas of the mesh you want to appear on top. To deselect parts of the mesh, hold down the âcommandâ key and the âoption keyâ and brush. Now that weâve brushed the mesh, use keyframing to create the animation. Move the playhead to the start of the generator and set a keyframe for each of the control points. Next, weâll move the playhead further down the timeline, and click and drag the pins on the canvas. Weâll repeat this process until the animation is complete.
