On today’s episode of Murphys Diesel, the Alaska saga continues as Wrecker Rick races to build Large Marge the Barge and rescue stranded equipment before winter arrives. The river is dropping fast, daylight is disappearing, and this massive equipment recovery is becoming a race against the clock. Taking care of your health just got easier. Start here with https://zocdoc.com/murphys #sponsored After major storms caused the Yukon River to rise several feet, the water is now falling 4–6 inches every day. That rapid change is making our recovery plan more difficult by the hour. We have to figure out how to get the barge into position, reach the equipment, and bring everything home while the river is still workable. The you @WarriorWinchesUSA for always coming through on our builds with the best winches in the world! On top of that, we're losing roughly 6 minutes of daylight every single day. When you're working on a remote river in Alaska, darkness isn't something you want to take lightly. Every hour matters, and getting Large Marge finished has become one of the most time-sensitive projects we've ever taken on. What started as an idea to recover equipment from the Yukon has turned into a massive custom build. Wrecker Rick and the crew are putting their diesel equipment, fabrication skills, and years of experience to work building a barge strong enough to handle the job. There is no store-bought solution for this one—we have to build what we need and make it work. Then, just when the pressure is already building, our family gets hit with an unexpected emergency. While the crew is working on the barge, Dayton suffers a freak fall at the park and has to be airlifted to Anchorage for a small procedure. Thankfully, she is doing well and is back to normal, almost as if the accident never happened. We are incredibly grateful everything turned out okay, but with the Yukon River changing every day, the timing couldn't have been more challenging. Wrecker Rick has to keep the Alaska recovery moving, so he calls in the Wrecker Rick Builds crew to help finish Large Marge. The team jumps in and gets to work while Rick gets an emergency rescue call in California. Just like that, the Alaska barge project has to continue without him. Now the crew has to finish this custom recovery rig, prepare it for the Yukon River, and keep the entire operation moving before the river drops too far and winter shuts the door. This is the kind of blue-collar work we love sharing on Murphys Diesel. There are no easy jobs when you're working around heavy equipment, changing weather, remote terrain, and a deadline that Mother Nature controls. Sometimes you have to build your own solution, call in your crew, and figure it out as you go. And this Alaska adventure is far from over. Large Marge still has to make it to the Yukon River, the equipment still needs to be recovered, and we still have to get everything home before the snow flies. Follow along with Murphys Diesel as we take you behind the scenes of this unbelievable Yukon River recovery, from building the barge in the shop to putting it to work in the wilds of Alaska. Subscribe and come along for the ride. The Alaska saga continues, and Large Marge is just getting started.
