I've ordered a Ferrari 296 GTS, and this is why! Join me for my first drive in the future Shmeemobile, to discover the new Spider inside out; from a drive on mountain passes, to the hybrid powertrain settings, and demonstrating the roof mechanism. I cannot wait for this one! The 296 GTS follows a winning formula, taking the 296 GTB and bringing a folding hard top roof to the mix. Mechanically identical with the 3.0l twin turbo V6 combined with an electric motor on the rear axle to deliver 830hp, the GTS was planned, designed and engineered alongside the GTB with the intention to always create such a wonderful Spider. The roof tucks away in 14 seconds while driving up to 45km/h (28mph), and results in a unique floating bridge design across the buttresses, complementing the other lines found across the bodywork. Having bought and driven already around 5,000 miles in my SF90 Stradale, I've opted for the 296 GTS to offer a variety of driving experiences between the cars. The V6 power plant is quite a different driving experience alone to the V8 with 3 motors found in the bigger brother, and the 'Piccolo V12' soundtrack is truly glorious. With the GTC4Lusso also in my garage, I' will have a splendid mix of the V6, V8, V12 and Coupe, Spider and 4-seater cars from Maranello.
