■ GUATEMALA CITY: After 3 flights and well over a day spent at different airports in various continents, I arrived with a pounding headache in Guatemala. This is a country I've never been to before. Naturally thus I knew nothing as far as logistics of moving about in the city or country was concerned. There are two ways to deal with such situations from a 'vlogging for YouTube' perspective. Option 1 - Take a leisurly airport taxi to a nearby quiet hotel. Get settled in, get rid of your headache, eat a couple of proper meals, survey the lay of the land by researching what to do, where to go and how to do it using the knowledge base that is the internet. Then make your first video a few days later when you're feeling fresh and know how to go about things in a more professional pre-meditated manner. Option 2. - Wing it and go for maximum adventure by ignoring your headache, your jet-lag, lack of local language skills and lack of knowledge about how to do anything in the place you just arrived in. Instead walk right outside the airport with only the vaguest of plans. No cheating by using your iPhone to research anything for pointers with anything allowed. Only rely on asking locals for directions/advice and what information they relay to you. When I landed in Guatemala, I chose option 2. I don't regret it.
