Hello, Doverhill here. I'm back uploading videos after a year and just wanted to say thank you to anyone who takes their time reading this. From now on I will include a message in the comments or description just to gather my thoughts and say what couldn't be said in the video. So thank you again and I hope you're doing well today! In this video, I tried to break down about Dubai's economic success into 5 different reasons. These reasons are why I think Dubai and the UAE in general is a great example (alongside Norway perhaps) of how natural resources can be strategically used to create lasting wealth. Of course, these reasons aren't always beneficial to the people of Dubai and being rich doesn't always equal being happy, that is true in a personal sense and I do think that it extends to a country/city level as well. I won't go deep into many of the legitimate issues happening there, but one of the main issues is regarding worker's rights, which I already explained in the video. I thought it would be great if I can paint a picture of Dubai as what it really is rather than a 'capitalist utopia' or a 'workers dystopia'. Dubai in my opinion, is a gleaming metropolis with a hidden darkness. It shows just how great the principles of capitalism is in building wealth on a macroeconomic scale but also shows the price some people pay for that success. Now that I thought about it, there are many great points that I've missed or not said properly in the video. I'll do better next time.
