A week ago a new indie pilot called wolf story came out and it’s caused alot of discussion. So what is it? Let’s talk about it. So wolf story created by youtuber izzzyzzz is an 11 minute pilot. The plot being about a group of wolves with overpowered abilities. The main punchline being that the pilot was advertised super seriously, with a fully animated intro and theme song. And then when the actual animation plays it’s totally different. It had me in tears the first time i saw it. It’s a parody of early 2000s to 2010s internet culture where everyone was obsessed with wolves and had ocs with edgy personalities. The best thing though is that the pilot was genuinely funny. It has so many nods and in jokes that if you grew up in that era you’ll recognise immediately. The theme song for instance is unironically good, but then for the outro they made it a nightcore version. The voice acting is really talented with people like damien haas and jonah scott. All the lines are spoken seriously, and mixed with the onscreen animation it’s hilarious. Since the pilot came out the show has garnered an actual fandom. The official instagram account has sheets with info about the characters, and also a poll asking if blaze should be killed off in the next episode. There’s also fan art for some of the characters. Another thing that was interesting was there were some people annoyed that it was a massive joke and not serious. People expected a proper series and felt a little let down. I can see why, but honestly I'm happy with what we got. Personally i actually do hope that izzyzzz makes more of wolf story, it was a breath of fresh air. The story was quite engaging, so atleast for me if they decide to make more i’d tune in to find out what happens to the characters next. So what do you think? Have you heard of wolf story?
