What do boys peeing outside have to do with getting ready for school? 😂 More than you think. Every September, without fail, I seem to have a kindergarten boy (or two) who decides the best place to pee is behind the rock wall, around the corner of the school, or somewhere near the playground. Why? Because he's five. He's been peeing behind trees all summer. Nobody told him the rules changed. 😂 And that's actually the point of this week's Walk & Talk. Kids don't magically switch from summer mode to school mode just because September arrives. We've got a couple of weeks. Start helping them make the transition now. Get bedtime back on track. Bring back morning routines. Practice those please-and-thank-yous. Read together for 10–15 minutes. Play with some numbers. And especially with teenagers, start getting those phones out of the bedroom at night. Nothing crazy. Nothing perfect. Just start rebuilding the rhythms of school. Because a little preparation now can make those first few weeks easier for your child, easier for you... and yes, selfishly, easier for us principals and teachers too 😇 And if you've got a kindergarten boy... maybe have a quick conversation about where he's allowed to pee. 😂
