๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น A market where lunch costs โ‚ฌ8. A garden where cats sleep on the graves of poets. A real pyramid in the middle of Rome. All of this is in one neighborhood, and most tourists never go there. Welcome to Testaccio Rome! This is Part 1 of our walk, and it shows you some of the best Rome hidden gems. ๐Ÿ” Think of this as a simple Rome travel guide and Rome neighborhood guide in one. If you want Rome off the beaten path, this is a good place to start. We walk through the area on foot, so it works as a short Rome walking tour that you can copy on your own trip. ๐Ÿšถ ๐Ÿ“ Here is what we cover: First, we eat at the Mercato di Testaccio, a busy Rome food market with handmade pasta, burgers, pizza, sweets, and cheese. This is the best place to try local food in Rome and Roman street food, and a perfect stop for cheap eats in Rome. Do not miss the famous Roman sandwiches at Mordi e Vai! ๐Ÿฅช๐Ÿ Then we walk a few minutes south to the Pyramid of Cestius, a 2,000 year old tomb in the middle of Rome. Next to it, you can visit the Non-Catholic Cemetery Rome, where you will find the Keats and Shelley grave Rome and the friendly cats of the pyramid. We end with a walk along Porta San Paolo and the Aurelian Walls. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿˆ ๐Ÿ’ก Tips for your visit: The market is open Monday to Saturday, from early morning to mid-afternoon, so go for breakfast or lunch, not dinner. Lunch is about โ‚ฌ8, or โ‚ฌ10 with a drink, so it is great for Rome on a budget. The cemetery asks for a donation of about โ‚ฌ5 when you leave. Please be respectful inside, and wear comfortable shoes! ๐Ÿ‘ If you enjoyed the video, hit like, subscribe, and save it for your Rome trip.
