The Amaravati Development Corporation has officially invited tenders for the construction of the ‘Spire Tower’, an iconic structure envisioned to rival the Eiffel Tower in Paris. With an estimated cost of ₹661 crore, the tower is set to become the main attraction of the Amaravati Assembly building complex. The government has approved the construction of the tower and its lifts, and tenders worth around ₹363 crore have been issued for foundation and other works in the first phase. The tower is expected to be among the tallest in India and is scheduled to be completed within 27 months. Designed by the globally renowned Norman Foster firm, the tower will feature an elegant inverted-lily-flower shape and is being planned as a green building with modern features such as rainwater harvesting and solar panels. The tower is intended to serve not only as part of the Assembly complex but also as a major tourist attraction. Except on days when Assembly sessions are held, tourists will reportedly be able to visit the tower. Special glass lifts will take visitors to the top, offering a stunning 360-degree view of Amaravati. The Assembly, Legislative Council, Secretariat and Central Hall buildings will be developed around the tower on all four sides, making the mega tower the centrepiece of the entire complex. Advanced engineering technology is being used to ensure the structure remains strong and durable for generations. According to the tender conditions, the construction must be completed within 27 months, followed by a two-year maintenance period to be handled by the contractor. The leading infrastructure company L&T, which is already involved in the Assembly construction works, is reportedly among the frontrunners for the tower project as well.
