I was 124kg. I wasn’t a runner. I wasn’t a cyclist. I wasn’t training for anything. I was just getting on with work, life and everything that comes with it. Then something changed. I decided I didn’t want to keep living the same way. I started training, changed my habits, lost 26kg and eventually found myself standing on the start line of my first ever triathlon. But this journey was never really about losing weight. It was about finding out what I was capable of. In this video, I give an update on where the journey is now — including a setback I definitely wasn’t expecting. During a gym session, I injured my back while squatting, and suddenly the training I’d become so committed to had to take a back seat. I talk about the injury, my first chiropractor appointment and what the outlook looked like afterwards. But more importantly, I go back to the beginning. Why did I start doing all of this in the first place? What actually drove me to change? And why, after losing 26kg and completing my first triathlon, am I still pushing myself to see what I can achieve? This isn’t a story about becoming an athlete overnight. It’s about starting when you’re not ready, continuing when it’s difficult, and dealing with the setbacks along the way. The journey isn’t finished. 124kg → 26kg lost → First triathlon → Injury → What’s next? If you’re on your own journey, subscribe and follow along.
