A mother's love and courage saved her 12-year-old daughter's life in a heartbreaking incident in Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh. With no proper road access and no ambulance facility in their village, a desperate mother carried her seriously ill daughter on her shoulders for nearly seven kilometres through difficult hill paths to reach a hospital. The incident took place in Pallapu Dungada, a tribal village under Daraparthi Panchayat in S.Kota mandal. Janni Sukaramma and her husband Kannaiah's 12-year-old daughter Sampoorna suddenly fell seriously ill. Recent heavy rains had damaged the mud roads leading to the village, leaving the area inaccessible to vehicles. With no ambulance available, the mother had no other option but to carry her daughter herself. Ignoring steep slopes, rocky paths, muddy roads and flowing rainwater, Sukaramma walked nearly seven kilometres with her daughter on her shoulders. After reaching Dibb agunta at the foothills, she hired an auto and rushed her daughter to a private hospital in S.Kota, where the child received emergency treatment. After treatment, she once again carried her daughter back through the same difficult route to reach home safely. The heartbreaking incident came to the attention of Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh, who immediately responded and directed officials to provide proper road connectivity and emergency medical facilities to the village. He also instructed officials to speed up forest clearance permissions and complete the pending road construction work without further delay. Following Lokesh's instructions, TDP Rajya Sabha MP Chintakayala Vijay announced that he would provide an ambulance through his MP Local Area Development Scheme funds to ensure medical services for Pallapu Dungada and nearby tribal villages. The village has been waiting for proper road connectivity for years. Around ₹4.90 crore was sanctioned under the PMGSY scheme eight years ago for constructing a 6.5-kilometre road. However, the project came to a halt after forest department permissions expired. Meanwhile, the estimated project cost increased to ₹6.50 crore. The incident highlights the hardships faced by people living in remote tribal areas due to a lack of basic infrastructure.
