In 2006, the Nintendo DS was taking off. The launch of the DS Lite had firmly cemented it as a replacement for the GBA lineup, and Nintendo’s new casual brand strategy with the DS Lite and the upcoming Wii got a whole new audience interested in Nintendo’s products. As the Wii approached launch, Nintendo began work on a brand new DS model, with hardware that would be a closer match to Sony’s PSP. With mobile 3D graphics chips still being in their infancy, Nintendo turned to the GPU company Nvidia to collaborate on the development of a custom processor. But as years passed, this Nvidia DS disappeared, with the next DS model being an incremental upgrade using largely the same chips as the original. When the DS’s true successor arrived in 2011, it used a chip by the Japanese company DMP, with the public never seeing anything but rumors of an earlier Nvidia variant. This is the story of Nintendo and Nvidia’s lost 3DS prototype. 00:00 - Opening 01:05 - The MG20's backstory 02:05 - Creation of the MG20 03:23 - The Leaks 04:11 - Fate of the MG20 06:21 - The Tegra's relation to the MG20 07:24 - Messages & Credits Subtitlers: English - RedBees Spanish (Mexico) - Antonio231102 French (France) - A Random Home Media Maker (ARHMM) If you want to add subtitles, contact "@redbees" or "@jekumakuma" on Discord - you may be able to get paid for adding subtitles in certain languages!
