Man, this is good, correcting RocketJump's "How STAR WARS was Saved in the Edit" doc. In just the first quarter, Nerdonymous calls out unsubstantiated opinions about how bad the crawl was while also correcting the ill-cited v3 vs v4 issue, hilariously ridicules Prof Jump's nonsense about an ill-timed joke, and then corrects the Prof's disinformation that Marcia Lucas cut the 3 extraneous Lukes & Biggs scenes when it was Lucas who did so-- applauded by co-editor Hirsch, and despite co-editor's Marcia's objections, because he wanted to maintain his homage to Kurosawa by keeping the droids as the driving hero characters. So, thus far, the only objections from George's director friends (of "a 2nd or 3rd cut, 28:20" and a post-Marcia cut--NOT the 1st by Jympson, 1:06:30) was that it was confusing (as in fresh and intelligent) and the laser wounds didn't bleed (umm, no lasers cauterize veins, resulting in death by blood clots), detailed later, around 1:00:50 Bravo. More of a mouthful, but a truer summary than 'Saved in the Edit" would be "Despite financial, ecological, and health disasters, the editing team between Spring 1976 and 1977--headed by George himself--doubled-down on editing and reshoots to create a masterpiece film". Here's another suggestion. "How Star Wars principals George Lucas, Anthony Daniels (and a year prior, Roger Christian) were saved from sun stroke--only to have two asst. editors and/or their agents claim they saved a crap script and awful footage from certain box office doom". That last phrase especially is paraphrased from the dreadful RocketJump video. And let's not forget: "And what's he doing that for...and why is he running some more...and what are they doing now...and what the heck is that thing...." Umm, that's an Academy Award I believe, RocketJump, several in fact, lmao. THUMBNAIL NOTES The Ranking Spectrum (Character Focus Edit) A high-energy cinematic composition featuring the baseball girl yelling at the gold robot, framed by a weaving black filmstrip with numbers. This version strips away the other characters to highlight the intense, humorous confrontation between the athlete and the droid, making for a much cleaner focal point. Why it works: By simplifying the background to just two characters, you've created a much stronger "hook" that centers on conflict and emotion. The large "WORKPLACE LINGO" title remains highly legible, and the electric blue numbers on the weaving filmstrip clearly communicate the ranking format. This layout has a much faster speed of comprehension, drawing the viewer's eye immediately to the characters' expressions before they see the "Top 5" structure, perfect for driving clicks on S.W. Wilcox's movie analysis. The Numbered Thread (Textured Filmstrip Edit) A baseball girl shouting at a gold robot, framed by a large, textured filmstrip of black squares and white threads with the numbers 1 through 5 clearly visible. This version combines the tactile "black squares and white threads" filmstrip with bold, numbering to explicitly highlight the "Top 5" list format. The addition of the numbers 1-5 directly onto the textured filmstrip provides a clear visual hierarchy, signaling to the viewer that this is a ranked countdown. By integrating the numbers into the graphic element itself, it maintains the pro, cinematic aesthetic of the S.W. Wilcox channel without cluttering the scene with floating text. The intense character confrontation remains the primary emotional hook, and the umbra numbers ensure the video's core premise is clear. --All while maintaining the high-energy of S.W. Wilcox channel's video essay style.
