Hola todos, hello everyone, bonjour tout le monde! So today I wanted to make a new video titled: « ANGLOPHONES AND FRANCOPHONES ARE ALLIES! » and here it goes: QUĂBEC, THE âDISTINCT SOCIETYâ, WILL NEVER BE A COUNTRY! Let me break this down for you: I want to be your ally and your friend! I want to work with you! I refuse to be at war with you! We can and could achieve great things together! I will speak English every day! I donât care about French, an irrelevant language! I accept an English future for QuĂ©bec! I am not a French language activist or a QuĂ©bec nationalist! Even my parents, who are both proud francophones, reject the idea of QuĂ©bec becoming a sovereign country and want QuĂ©bec to remain a Canadian province! Canadians from all 10 provinces, coast to coast, in 2025, should be fluent in English! Glottophobia and hostility between languages needs to end. Most anglophones are not hostile towards QuĂ©bec and its French language, they are just mostly surprised that there is even a francophone province in Canada and they want to learn more about this place. The English-speaking world has shown time and time again that they love the French language and they do not have a problem with francophones. Many American superstars have named songs and albums with French names: Paramore, Britney Spears, Fall Out Boy, Eminem, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and many more. Itâs now time for us francophones to show love to anglophones and give the English language the respect that it deserves, and learn to speak English as a second language. I believe in a bilingual QuĂ©bec and Canada where both English and French are celebrated. If I had kids, I would want them to learn to speak both English and French and be fluent in both official languages of Canada. I speak French in my everyday life but I am not a foreigner or a second class citizen in Canada! I donât want people to fight over languages! My grand-mother Madeleine, deceased in 1965 at only age 30 years old, lived in Ontario and spoke English with her sisters and in her everyday life! I could have been raised in the English language! Itâs a coincidence that I happen to speak French! But happily I am bilingual and I speak both official languages of Canada! I speak French in my everyday life but I do not have a problem with the English language! I have been speaking English since I was about 3 years old and I am fully bilingual! More than 90% of my iTunes playlist is songs in English! I celebrate the English language every day of my life! Speaking French while living in North America might seem âexoticâ to the anglosphere, but it doesnât mean weâre that different. Francophones living in Canada/North America are not that different than Americans and English-Canadians. We share values that go beyond the limits of language. QuĂ©bĂ©cois are just like Americans and English-Canadians except for the language that we speak! With that being said, donât mind Canadaâs francophones. All of the classics in music, movies, and tv shows are in English. When I was 18-24 years old and I went clubbing with friends, at home before going out weâd always play music in English. Britney Spears, Madonna, Rihanna, BeyoncĂ©, etc. And at the club it was always music in English too! All of the best music that there is available is in English! I also never said that everyone has to speak French! I was just rooting for French because itâs my native language and I think itâs a beautiful language and I am proud to speak it! But I also love to speak English and I support and respect people who speak English in and outside of QuĂ©bec! I also support and respect people who speak Autochtone/Allophone languages! The diversity of languages in QuĂ©bec/Canada makes us stronger! Being bilingual and speaking English and French has been a blessing and a gift for me! Gracias todos! So what are your thoughts on this video? Please let me know in the comments below. Please like, share and subscribe! Gracias, thank you, merci!
