"Two bones and a pick" comes from the sessions T-Bone held for Atlantic Records in the mid/late fifties. It's an instrumental written by T-Bone himself. The first guitar solo is taken by R S Rankin (T-Bone's nephew), the second by Barney Kessel and the third by T-Bone. As a side comment, at this stage in T-Bone's career he would have had plenty of time to hear what effect his guitar work had had on some of his disciples like Chuck Berry. I wonder if he picked up anything from them. "T-Bone Blues" was one of T-Bone Walker's later albums, coming out on Atlantic in 1959 and subsequently re-released with added tracks on Sequel in 1994. AllMusic called it "The last truly indispensible disc of the great guitar hero's career" and gave it a five star rating. Five of the tracks were produced by Ahmet Ertegun and Jerry Wexler. The rest were produced by Nesuhi Ertegun. This trio were royalty as far as Atlantic were concerned. They didn't just give allocate production roles to lesser beings - only the best would do for T-Bone. Within the session team were the world famous jazz guitarist Barney Kessel plus renowned sax player Plas Johnson. They also recorded a clutch of the tracks in Chicago with Junior Wells (harmonica), Jimmy Rogers (guitar) and reportedly, Willie Dixon on bass, all near household names from the Chess stable.
