Performed on a magnificent historic Baroque organ, this special program unfolds through six musical sections, beginning with contemplative Marian-themed organ improvisations and gradually developing into richly melodic and powerful soundscapes. Nicole Margret Zennaro – Organist, Pianist, Conductor & Soprano | Biography: Born in 1969 in Neuwied on the Rhine, Nicole Margret Zennaro (nĂ©e GrĂŒnewald) began exploring the keyboard at the tender age of three on the family piano. Her mother, who was also her first teacher, quickly recognized her daughter’s exceptional musical talent. At the age of nine, Nicole had her first encounters with the organ and soon fell deeply in love with the “queen of instruments.” By the age of eleven, she was already performing her first Holy Mass. Numerous piano awards from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate followed, marking an early and decisive beginning to her musical career. She commenced her studies in Catholic Church Music at the University of Church Music in Rottenburg am Neckar under Professor Bernhard Marx. Soon thereafter, she followed the invitation of Professor Wolfgang Seifen—the internationally renowned German organist, composer, and pedagogue, particularly celebrated for his mastery of organ improvisation. She transferred to the Robert Schumann Hochschule in DĂŒsseldorf, where she completed her studies in 1998 with the prestigious Concert A Examination under Professors Seifen and Calhoff. In addition to organ and piano, she also studied voice and possesses a beautifully trained, expressive soprano. Early music, inspired by a masterclass with Emma Kirkby in Zurich, continues to fascinate her to this day. Nicole Margret Zennaro has served as an organist in cities including Neuwied, Friedrichshafen, and Krefeld, and as full-time cantor at the pilgrimage church in Marienbaum near Xanten. Her national and international concert engagements—taking her as far as the world-renowned concert halls of Tokyo—have profoundly shaped her artistic identity. Audiences are consistently captivated by the depth of her passion and the striking emotional intensity of her performances. From the year 2000 onward, she lived and worked musically in Venice, Italy, where she performed, among other venues, in the illustrious St Mark’s Basilica. When asked about her artistic influences, she speaks with clarity: the legendary Argentine pianist Martha Argerich has been a guiding inspiration since her childhood. Her organ playing has been deeply shaped by her teachers Wolfgang Seifen and Bernhard Marx. Masterclasses with distinguished musicians such as Guy Bovet, Peter Planyavsky, and Michael Radulescu have further enriched her artistry. She maintains a particularly strong connection to the organ tradition of Paris and to the legendary 19th-century instruments built by Aristide CavaillĂ©-Coll. It is therefore no surprise that Olivier Latry, titular organist of the Grand Organ at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, is among her greatest artistic idols. Her musical journey may best be summarized in her own words: “It was never my ambition to become successful. I simply wanted to make people happy through my music.” As of January 2026, Nicole Margret GrĂŒnewald will assume the position of Director of Church Music and the Kantorei at the Evangelical-Lutheran Lister parish in Hanover.
